The person who shows up works for us.

Every diagnostic call is run by an SBS-NC technician — uniformed, badged, and driving a stocked company van with digital gauges, recovery equipment, and the common failure parts on board. That is why most repairs finish on the first trip, and why the diagnosis you get is from someone whose name is on the report.

How It Works

Four steps, no surprises.

01

You call

Tell us the site, the unit, and the symptom. We schedule — or dispatch immediately for contract customers.

02

We diagnose

A uniformed SBS-NC technician tests the system end to end — electrical, refrigerant, airflow, controls.

03

You approve

You get findings and a price in writing. Repair versus replace gets an honest recommendation, not a push.

04

We fix it

Repair completed, system verified under load, and the work documented for your records.

Control panel open on a wall-mount unit, meter out, cause found before anything gets replaced. This is what the trip and diagnostics visit covers — a real diagnosis, not a guess and a parts order.

What We Fix

The failures we see most.

Common commercial HVAC problems, and what's usually behind them.

Unit not cooling

Low refrigerant charge, a failed capacitor or contactor, a seized compressor, or a coil so dirty the system can't reject heat.

Refrigerant leaks

Located, repaired, and recharged — plus a conversation about retrofit options on older refrigerants.

Blower & fan motors

Burnt-out condenser and blower motors, bad bearings, broken belts, and unbalanced wheels replaced and verified.

Compressor failure

Diagnosed properly before replacement, because a compressor rarely dies without an underlying cause.

Electrical faults

Failed capacitors, contactors, transformers, relays, and pitted or loose connections found under load.

Control & thermostat issues

Sensors, staging, schedules, and BAS points corrected so the equipment runs the way the building needs.

Water leaks & drain backups

Clogged condensate lines, cracked pans, and failed pumps repaired before they reach the ceiling tiles.

Chillers, boilers & towers

Pumps, valves, controls, tubes, and water treatment issues on central plant equipment.

Airflow & duct problems

Hot and cold spots traced to duct leakage, closed dampers, static pressure, or an economizer stuck in the wrong position.

Emergency Service

When it goes down after hours.

Contract customers reach a live dispatch line 24/7 and go to the front of the queue. A restaurant losing cooling on a Saturday night, a chiller tripping in a plant at 2 AM, a school with no heat Monday morning — those are the calls the program exists for.

Have this ready when you call

Site address and access, unit tag or location, what the equipment is doing, when it started, and any fault codes on the thermostat or BAS.

Stocked trucks

Capacitors, contactors, belts, motors, and common controls ride with our techs, so most failures are fixed on the first trip.

Warranty backed

Labor and product warranties on the repairs we perform and the equipment we supply.

Common Questions

Repairs & diagnostics FAQ.

How much does a commercial HVAC diagnostic visit cost?
Contact SBS-NC for service call pricing. Every diagnostic visit covers a technician coming to your site, testing and assessing the equipment, and giving you a written plan and price. Repair work is quoted separately and only begins after you approve it. Multi-site and contract pricing is available upon request.
How fast can a technician get to my building?
Maintenance contract customers receive 24/7 emergency response and front-of-line dispatch. Non-contract commercial calls are scheduled as quickly as route capacity allows during business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
What are the most common commercial HVAC failures?
Failed capacitors and contactors, burnt blower or condenser fan motors, refrigerant leaks and low charge, seized compressors, tripped safety and high-pressure switches, clogged condensate drains, dirty coils causing high head pressure, broken belts, and control or thermostat faults.
Do you repair equipment you did not install?
Yes. Our technicians are trained on all major commercial makes, models, and control platforms, regardless of who installed the equipment or maintained it previously.
Will you tell me when a unit should be replaced instead of repaired?
Yes. When repair cost approaches the value of the equipment, or a unit is at the end of its service life, we say so and quote both options so you can decide on facts rather than pressure.
Does SBS-NC subcontract repair work?
No. SBS-NC is self-performing. The technician who arrives at your facility is our employee, trained and uniformed, which keeps quality consistent and eliminates subcontractor markup.
What information should I have ready when I call?
Site address and access instructions, the unit tag or location, what the equipment is or isn't doing, when the problem started, and any alarm or fault codes on the thermostat or building automation system. That detail often lets us arrive with the right part on the truck.
